Master T2MC - Transition metals in molecular chemistry
The Master “Molecular Chemistry” with the “Transition Metals in Molecular Chemistry” (T2MC) specialization focuses on training skillful chemists capable of managing the various research, development and/or organizational aspects of a molecular chemistry project as well as making them aware of the modern constraints of chemistry (saving of material and energy, respect for the people safety, the environment and goods). Students are therefore trained in research and in being capable to integrate into the professional world.
Backed by the research activites of ICMUB (Institute of Molecular Chemistry of the Université de Dijon) and UTINAM (Universe, Time-Frequency, Interfaces, Nanostructures, Atmosphere and environment, Molecules), this training offer is oriented towards the fields of organometallic and coordination chemistry and their use for clean chemistry and sustainable development.
Moreover, it will also allow students to study the applications of molecular chemistry in the field of medical imaging, a new research area developed at ICMUB.
Last but not least, courses are mainly taught in English and will favour the student’s integration into the job market which is becoming more and more globalized. It is also an advantage for welcoming international students, and in particular students from the M1 of the University of Chemistry and Technology of Prague (UCT Prague).
At the end of their training, students will have a deeper understanding of scientific problems. They will develop their sense of initiative and their responsibilities. Students will be able to work in sectors of activity requiring a high level of scientific training to obtain productivity gains, material savings or quality control, both at the laboratory level and at the production stage.
The master offers global courses which allow the acquisition of many skills in the chemistry field but also of transversal skills:
- Organic, inorganic and analytical chemistry
- Spectroscopy
- Electrochemistry
- IT
- Human Sciences
- English
It also allows to acquire solid knowldege and a good mastery in the molecular chemistry field in relation to transition metals:
- Organic and organometallic synthesis
- Coordination chemistry
- Modeling and reaction mechanisms
- Catalysis
At the end of this training, students can work in every sector of activity concerned with the chemical or pharmaceutical sciences.
T2MC specialization’s main job prospects are:
- The PhD preparation in a higher education establishment – French of foreign – leading to research, in industry or in public research centers, and to university lecturer and researcher.
- The response to job offers for engineers-level executives, in research and development, in control, in manufacturing or in support functions.
